I’m so excited for this post! It’s September!!!!! Fall is quite literally my favorite time of the year and I’m over this hot, humid, gross, sticky NYC weather. NYC also has this thing where at the end of the summer, we have a “false fall.” It tricks you into where one day it will be SO NICE out and you really think Fall is around the corner but then the next week…94 degrees with 100% humidity. Hopefully, the weather will actually cool down soon. As we wait for the sweater weather to actually begin, I created this guide of what I’m shopping for + what to buy to transition from summer to fall. Most of the clothing is what I’ve been saving, everything will be linked, but I’ll try to include some alternatives or other ideas for price ranges (because some of the items are definitely investments).
I split this post into two parts because it is taking me a while to finish and I want to post this so badddd. Anyway, happy September and enjoy!
I think I’m most excited for the fall because it means I get to whip out cute jackets. If you know me, I love a good outerwear moment, and I’ve been waiting for the perfect moment to purchase some. I’ve been eyeing these in specific but these styles are definitely the best for this coming Fall.
Been loving this gingham shirt jacket from Baum und Pferdgarten. The blue is so pretty and makes such a nice color to match with jeans for summer to fall, with a lil tank top underneath. Or even wear it as a shirt. Honestly, anything gingham for the fall however I couldn’t find many alternatives to this because I think this is so UNIQUE!
I love this Ganni jacket for colder nights because she’s definitely thick. Jackets like these though are such a great investment — especially in cities with brutal winters. The brown color is also stunning and would look great with honestly anything, plus the wool is so comfy. Some other cheaper or more expensive options:
Toteme Embroidered Scarf Jacket $1,130 (This is only an alternative for those with money to spend because I would buy it too if I could)
This Barbour green quilted jacket is sitting in my cart WAITING for me to pull the trigger. I love this color for the Fall too, it feels very English countryside core and makes me want to run around in Hunter rain boots. These quilted jackets are so versatile because you can dress them up but also throw them on over some athleisure.
I’ve seen so many influencers wear this jacket from Saison. I feel like workwear jackets are in right now and this one is so chic. I loved my Carhart jacket in college and I feel like this one is more elevated for out-of-college looks. It is one size so sometimes that makes me hesitant but I think the fit is still so cute. This Abercrombie jacket from the Men’s section is a great dupe if you want something a lil cheaper as well as this one from Mango.
Another great quilted jacket is this black one from Ganni. Ganni is just the queen of everything I swear they just make the best stuff. Additionally, this jacket is one of the most affordable I’ve seen + it comes in white. This jacket is perfect for Fall when it’s cold but not too cold enough where you don’t need something that heavy.
Another version is this one from Barbour for only $145.
Last but certainly not least is this gorgeous red leather jacket from the Frankie Shop, which also has matching shorts. Another unique find that I’m truly obsessed with. The burgundy, cherry-ish color is so in for the Fall. Wear it with the matching shorts and a pair of boots? Stunning night-out look.
This shoe round-up is so good. I personally just bought the Reformation heels listed on #6 for an upcoming wedding. These are great closet staples for the upcoming colder weather but also are even great to have year-round.
These Onitsuka sneakers are the cutest things I’ve ever seen. Are you looking for a pair of sneakers for fall that aren’t sambas? Look no further. Other brands I like that aren’t Adidas are Alohas or Gola — I love these white ones for everyday wear!
I’ve been fixated on fur-lined clogs or sandals for the Fall. These clogs from Cushionaire are adorable and only $50. I think they’re so chic for the Fall and Winter, and also so nice to throw on when you leave the house for a sec. I honestly think they’re cuter than the Birkenstocks! (Linking them however if you like that style better.)
Another pair of shoes that I’m so close to purchasing (but I can’t decide between these two) — Alohas or these from J Crew. Another great pair to have for dressing up or down.
If you follow me on Instagram, you saw the polls for this boot. So, I have three options here that I’m debating buying. A nice suede, “sand” color boot is on top on my wishlist for Fall. Right now, I’m leaning toward these Staud boots but unfortunately are a hefty price. I like these two other options as well that are a little bit less!
Love these Reformation Leopard Mesh Kitten Heels for Fall/Winter. I feel like mesh shoes are very in as well. They come in a ton of different colors too.
Another great Reformation shoe find! I personally just bought these with my credit from a previous return and I’m so excited to wear them. They also come in tons of different colors and I love the shape of the shoe (looks similar to the Prada shoes I’ve been obsessing with.) You can never have too many kitten heels for a night out.
Another boot I’ve been eyeing for more work-related outfits are these gorgeous brown Sandro boots. Of course, they are out of stock but this style is so perfect for Fall. Another sort of expensive find but these will never go out of style and are such a great staple to have. I like the chunkiness of the soles instead of a classic heel, more comfortable for walking around. Linking similar ones that are in right now!!
Last but not least! I think these have been on my wishlist for months now and I can’t pull the trigger. I’ve been wanting a pair of loafers that weren’t just plain black or brown and these are so fun. Duke + Dexter has the cutest pairs of unique loafers - these cherry ones are to die for. I also love these from the website —
